A study of young children with learning difficulties who are experiencing a combination of placements in special and inclusive early childhood settings focusing on how they arrived at a combined placement. The project uses questionnaire and interview to:
- gain a better understanding of how parents conceptualise the choices available to them;
- elicit the advantages and disadvantages of special, inclusive and combined placements as perceived by parents, providers and voluntary groups;
- explore their expectations of combined special and inclusive provision;
- explore the processes by which combined placements are negotiated
