The Women’s Land Army - New major exhibition
Dr Gill Clarke, MBE curates new major exhibition

A major new exhibition curated by Dr Gill Clarke of the School of Education, examines artists' portrayals of the vital work of the Women's Land Army during the two World Wars. It features paintings, posters, prints and drawings by a range of artists including Randolph Schwabe, Laura Knight, James Bateman, Ethel Gabain and Evelyn Dunbar. Drawing on interviews with Land Girls the exhibition also considers how the artists' views compared with the reality of life on the land.

This nationally significant exhibition at St. Barbe Art Gallery, Lymington runs from 18th October 2008 to 10 January 2009. The exhibition is accompanied by a new book on the subject written by Dr Gill Clarke, MBE.
