Biography

Before joining the PGCE team at University of Southampton, Brian had taught in secondary education for 19 years in Yorkshire, Berkshire and Hampshire, having been Head of Year and Head of PE. He then became an Advisory Teacher in Birmingham, before becoming an independent PE Consultant. He completed his MA in Education at The University of Southampton in 1991.

He has worked extensively providing CPD to schools from nursery, primary and secondary schools. He has produced a series of six Physical Education CD-Roms and other resources for schools such as 'Inspirational Physical Education' as well as 'Improving Performance in PE - Schemes of Work for Key Stages 1-3', and more recently 'Studies in PE' a GCSE PE CD-Rom. He has had two books and a CD-Rom published by Pearson Publishing. He is an Ofsted inspector, a TOPS trainer and has worked extensively providing ICT training in PE. Currently, Brian's main sport is golf, although previously it was rugby. He has been an RYA windsurfing instructor and has also competed at County level in athletics and swimming.
