Biography

Dr Jasmine Rhamie is Lecturer in Primary Education in the School of Education. She is an experienced teacher and researcher who has extensive experience in the development of questionnaires, undertaking surveys and interviewing. She is knowledgeable in the use of a number of data analysis software such as SPSS and QSR NVivo.

She started her teaching career as a primary teacher in London in 1983 at the John Loughborough school in Tottenham. In 1985 she became head of the Junior department. Three years later she went to teach in Jamaica teaching secondary RE and PE and ESL to college students. Returning to the UK she taught in a range of primary schools in Berkshire, London and Oxfordshire, as a language support teacher and team leader, classroom teacher and supply teacher. In 1998 she undertook an MA in Psychology of Education at the Institute of Education, University of London gaining a distinction she followed this with doctoral studies funded by the ESRC. She gained her PhD in 2004. During this time she lectured in Criminology, Psychology and research methods at Newbold College Berkshire. She has been a consultant to a number of unitary authorities and organisations in Berkshire.

Dr Rhamie has extensive experience working as a researcher on government funded research projects such as the Behaviour Improvement Programme phase 2, the Primary Behaviour and Attendance Pilot Evaluation and Skill Force.
