Biography
Kate Green teaches on the Secondary English PGCE course. She also runs the Professional Themes and Special Study elements of the Secondary PGCE course, and specialises in the area of literacy and learning. Other areas of interest are the Underachievement of Boys in English and the use of Assessment techniques to aid learning in the English classroom.
Kate qualified as a Secondary English Teacher in 1993 and taught for 12 years in the Southampton and Bournemouth areas of the South Coast. During this time Kate had many roles within a variety of schools. She was a Head of Department, a deputy Head of Year and she ran the Media Studies GCSE course as well as teaching English to the 11-18 age range.
Kate strongly believes in ‘education for all’ and has spent all her working life exploring ways to include children in their own education. While working as a Teacher, she spent much of her time trying to motivate disaffected pupils and is now interested in the ‘Every Child Matters’ agenda- incorporating this in to the Professional Themes course for the Secondary PGCE.
