Criminal Records Bureau Check

All School of Education staff and students who may have any responsibility of care when working with young people are required to be screened by the Criminal Records Bureau (CRB) to ensure that they are suitable candidates for such work.

If you are an EU, International or UK student without this current documentation and feel that you may wish (or think you may wish) to gain access to schools (or similar institutions) where there are children or vulnerable adults then you will need to arrange all necessary CRB type clearances before your arrival in the UK and/or you begin your course. Details can be found by clicking here as well as on the CRB website.

Accommodation

For more information on what is available both on campus and in the rented sector visit the Accommodation Office website.

Suggested Reading

Many strategy and information documents are now available on the internet and can provide useful information for students. Some suggested ones you might like to take a look at if you are not familiar with them include:

UoS Student Advice Centre

You can contact the Student Advice & Information Centre with any enquiry and they will provide you with information, advice or details of specialist services and sources of help, both within and outside the University of Southampton. The service can provide information on a wide range of student-related topics including finance, accommodation, dyslexia, disability, careers, counselling, health, transport, sport, childcare, chaplaincy and the Students' Union. The service is currently available via email on saic@soton.ac.uk.
